We've been getting lots of questions asking for updates on the shipping. Well...

The elves are busy at work!

Fulfillment and shipping are currently underway. My wife and I have been very busy packing away your rewards and sending them off.  There is a lot more to do this year and our garage is looking like a huge mess, but it is organized chaos. It draws a lot of curious eyes from our neighbors. 

We have a bit more help this year too. Last year, my wife was pregnant. This year we have an 8 month old "helping". My in-laws are assisting as well. We aren't singing Christmas songs but, we are feeling like Santa's elves. Luckily, the weather is warm right now. 

Tracking numbers

Orders within the US will have tracking numbers when they are close to being shipped. If you haven't received a notice yet, please be patient. It takes us some time. 

I see that tracking notices from ShipQuest for orders in UK, EU, and many other parts of the world are being received as well. 

We are unsure regarding the details with tracking numbers from our partners in Canada, Australia, and China. They might send them out, or we might need to. We will have a better update later.

By Region

US - We are making steady progress. Some of you will begin receiving your 2022 Quest Calendars in the next few days.  If you haven't received it or a tracking number yet, please be patient. This takes us some time. We are sending orders out via USPS Priority mail so they should be quick to deliver (2 - 5 days) once they are out of our garage.

UK - In Progress. ShipQuest is sending out tracking notices. Orders usually take 2 - 6 days to be delivered.

EU - In Progress. ShipQuest is sending out tracking notices. It usually takes 2 - 7 days for orders to be delivered once dispatched.

AUS - They are aiming to start next week and once dispatched, orders should take 5 - 10 days to be delivered.

CAN - They should be providing us with a rough timeline soon, and orders should take 5 - 10 days to deliver once dispatched.

ASIA - Our partner in China delivers orders differently than others. Depending on the destination, it can take between 2-3 days, 7 days, 14, 21, or even up to 30 days. We are still getting details of their schedule. If there is risk on not receiving it in time, we are reaching out to you with options. 

Print & Play, More Heroes, Shipping

Print & Play

We are releasing the Print and Play PDFs in a couple days. You will get an email from BackerKit that says you have digital downloads available. You can access your codes from links in that email and you can always see them on your survey confirmation page (Lost yours?). These codes will be links with unique keys to unlock the files from the itch.io website.  It will require you to create an account to claim them. 

We are providing 3 different formats for printing for those that wish to keep the order of the pages and save paper by printing multiple per sheet and printing front and back. 

Heroes 

As one of our stretch goals, we made the heroes from 2021 available in the new character sheet format. These are print only versions, however.

We have posted the updated versions of our 2021 heroes. Some of them required minor rework to balance them for the new calendar. However, the Sorceress is practically a whole new hero. As requested, we released colored versions of ALL the heroes. You can find them all at: https://www.sundialgames.com/2022heroes. (Board Game Geek has size limitations for files and so the colored versions will not be available on the BGG site.

We still have work to do to provide rules for custom heroes. This is turning out to be quite a challenge. In the Hero Books you will find a blank character sheet available for this purpose. We will have more available to download as well once we finalize the rules.

Shipping Update

Everything seems to be going smooth enough so far. We have been getting notices that products are arriving at the designated fulfillment centers across the globe. Centers in Canada, UK, Germany, and Asia have all the items and are getting scheduled for fulfillment soon. 

Items arriving to Australia and US are still in transit and expected to arrive soon. We still anticipate delivery in time for the holidays.

Locking your shipping address!

We’re getting ready to ship!

We will locking shipping addresses soon. That means you have two days to update your shipping address in your BackerKit survey.

If you need to review your shipping address, you can return to your survey by clicking the link in your survey email or requesting your survey link under "Lost your survey?" on our BackerKit project page at https://2022-quest-calendar.backerkit.com/

You will also get an email from Backerkit with a notice and link.

If you haven’t answered your survey yet, you can still fill it out to get your rewards, but your shipment may be delayed.

We’re currently aiming to ship rewards near the end of this month, though fulfillment may run into early December as well. 

If you need to change your shipping address, please make the changes in your BackerKit survey in the next two days.

How to update your address in Backerkit

Once you access your survey:

From Desktop: There is a "Edit Your Address" button in the top right
From Mobile: Expand the menu from the top right with the carrot "V". Then click "View Confirmation". Then expand "Shipping Info" and click "Edit Shipping Info"

If you need to update your country (even for Local Pickup), you may have to contact backerKit or reach out to [email protected]

Local Pickup Date

If you decide that you would like to come visit and pick up your copy of the 2022 Quest Calendar, you can do so by going into your survey link and edit your address to select your Country as "Local Pickup".

Find me at a table in the side room. Pick up your stuff. I'll sign your Quest Calendar and Hero Book if you'd like. Ask questions and chat with me about games, Kickstarter, whatever. I might have extra copies but I can't guarantee it at this time.

What if I don't make it?

Things happen. If you end up not being able to make it, I will leave your copy at the store and you can pick it up there. Just talk to the person at the counter (likely Cameron - he is a cool guy) who will have a list.

If you would rather have it shipped, you can go into your survey and change your address to your shipping address. You will then need to pay for shipping.

New Rules?

We posted the rules in the last update but wanted to talk about some fun additions in this update. The rules haven't changed much this year, but there are a few edits for clarity and additions for new features. One of our favorite is Pickpocket.

Pickpocket

For 2022, Our hero Azmyra, the Swashbuckler can pick the pockets of others she encounters on her travels. Other heroes have the chance to acquire this skill later. It is a great way to earn extra coin. Unlike other adventure abilities where you are reminded when you can use them, with Pickpocket you have to earn your coin by looking out for marks among the travelers and merchants you encounter. Opportunities to Pickpocket can be found on pages where you spot the hidden icon.

You can only pickpocket on pages with the special icon, so be on the lookout. However, if you get too greedy, word could get around and sully your name, causing you to lose points in Virtue.

Virtue

This is a new story telling mechanic that helps to translate some of your decisions into other ways to interact with the story. A decision to rob someone, kill when unnecessary, or take a shady job can decrease your Virtue. At the same time,  good deeds can increase Virtue. Occasionally, your virtue can impact how you fair with other encounters by giving you bonuses or penalties to rolls.  The Paladin is effected tremendously as the potency of his abilities are driven by Virtue.

Other Minor Changes you may note:

•  "Armor" changes to "Defense" (name change only) This reflects a hero's other abilities to avoid getting hit.
•  "Per Day" and "Per Combat" change to "Per Page" This should eliminate ambiguity when "Attack and Damage" rolls occur on non-Combat days (days without tables), and when Saturday and Sunday occur on the same page. 
•  Followers have an upkeep cost.  Instead of leaving for random reasons, followers expect to be paid.  When you encounter a follower, they all have a Hiring Cost to initially acquire them and an Upkeep Cost that must be paid when you rest. If you can't afford to pay to keep them, they will leave you.
•  Equipment. Through the course of the year's adventure, you will have the chance to pick up various equipment. Only one type (ring, helmet, shield, etc.) can be equipped at a time.  So make your choices wisely.

Game Rules

When Questing across Terralon, be sure to follow the posted laws rules less you be stopped by the guards.

Published rules for the 2022 Quest Calendar can be found here. Glance them over at your leisure. Feel free to post any rule questions to this update or on this rules thread on BGG.
In our next update, we will address some of your questions and talk a bit about some of our favorite additions and new features.

Timeline Update

Worldwide shortages of shipping containers and factory workers, blocked canals, and general pandemic issues have caused many delays with freight shipping around the world. This has hit the board game industry as well. Anyone who has backed other Kickstarter projects has likely seen updates regarding this matter. I apologize for addressing this sooner.
While we will not be hitting the estimated shipping dates in October, we are on track to begin shipping these out in November.
Other projects can afford to push dates back a bit. I am personally not concerned if I get my personal copy of another's board game a bit late. However, a Calendar set to start on January 1st has a hard deadline that can't be causally missed. Also, we understand that many of are excited to deliver these as gifts for the holiday season. We don't want to disappoint you.
Our Battle Plan
While some of this is out of our hands, we are doing what we can to combat this where feasible. We are paying additional fees to expedite the shipping. Internationally, we are shipping express to the fulfillment centers. Within the US, we will be shipping priority mail that normally guarantees fast delivery and tracking information.  Also, we don't anticipate the postal delay the US had last year. since the USPS is hiring 40,000 seasonal workers across the US for 2021.
We will continue to update you regarding any timeline changes.

Character Sheets

We have published the downloadable character sheets for the 2022 Heroes here.  If you didn't order the Laminated Hero Book, you can print these off and use them.  The Laminated Hero book will have fully colored pages. Let us know your favorite heroes and the ones you are excited to play. Also feel free to post questions to this update or on this thread on BGG.
